Getting to Tangier

Flying to Tangier airport (Tanger – Ibn Battouta Airport) is the easiest and quickest way to travel to the City. Airlines like Air Arabia Marcoc and Ryanair run budget flights to Tangier Boukhalef (TNG) from London, Madrid, Barcelona, Brussels, Marseille and Paris. Other direct flights come from Germany, Turkey and the Netherlands.Flight time is about 3 hours from London & Brussels and 1.5 hours from Madrid and 4.5 from Istanbul.

Tangier airport is modern, compact and user friendly. On the inbound flight, you should be issued with an entry/exit document card so pack a pen. Don’t worry if you aren’t given this as cards are available upon entry. You have to fill out basic formalities like name, passport number, entry point, hotel address etc…and you present this with your passport to the immigration inspector before he stamps your passport. There are currency exchange booths and ATMs once you have cleared customs.

From 10.30pm to 5.30am, the prices increase. If you land at night, say 9.00pm, sometimes they may suggest you pay the post 10.30pm prices. Politely decline, point to your watch with a smile and state the correct price.

  • Tangier City: 100 / 150 MAD
  • Tangier Ville Tran Station: 120 / 180 MAD
  • Asilah: 150 / 225 MAD
  • Tetouan City: 200 / 300 MAD

Tangier airport is 13km to Tangier centre and takes around 30-45 minutes, dependent on traffic.
